Can you believe Halloween is just around the corner…AGAIN?! (Doesn’t it feel like we just celebrated New Years??) Well, if you’re like me, then you’ve been counting down the days until Halloween too!

I remember the decade between when I last went trick-or-treating with my friends to when I became a mom and started taking my kids on their rounds through the neighborhood collecting their treats. Those years were bittersweet. I missed my days of getting dressed up and hitting up all the houses trying to get all the candy I could before it was dark and our parents called us home. I would see kids come to our door and think “what a cute costume! I’m so doing that when I have kids!” Let’s face it, as a mom you really only have a choice in your kids’ costumes for about the first two years. And then it’s up to them. If you don’t want your kids to get lost amongst the sea of “Elsas” and “Ninja Turtles” this Halloween, check out some of the ideas below!

DIY Themed Family Halloween Costumes

As you can see, there are many different theme options depending on how many kids you have. And the majority of the costumes pictured would be extremely easy to find or make. When my daughter was about 18 months old, we all went as the Flintstones. We found our outfits at the local Target and my mom was able to whip together the pieces for my daughter to wear as Pebbles. Too cute! Which one of these is your favorite?

As you can tell, the majority of these costumes are things you probably already have lying around, which makes them cheap (or free) to create. I especially like the baby octopus costume using extra leggings stuffed with cotton and attached to the baby’s shorts/skirt. And how cute is that granny costume for a toddler just learning to toddle? They may hate you for it later, but now is the time to take advantage of these adorable ideas (before they get wise to what you’re up to!).

Just because your baby-to-be or newborn isn’t ready for their door-to-door adventure yet, doesn’t mean the two of you can’t still dress up for the occasion! These are some of the most creative ideas I found when searching online. And they are all super simple ideas with super cute results! I really love the costumes that incorporate the baby carriers.

Just because you’re married with kids now doesn’t mean you can’t still have a good time with this holiday too! Got an adult Halloween party coming up? Try one of these hilarious DIY costumes! I especially like the “Deer in Headlights” costume…how funny is that?!

You can find a ton more ideas online. These were just some of the ones I found that I thought would be easiest to throw together if you’re looking for a last-minute idea for you and your spouse or your whole family. Is your Halloween costume pictured here? Or did you find one that’s not on the list? Tell us about it in the comments below!

Have a Safe and Happy Halloween!!
