Long gone are the days of strolling around in the skimpiest, airiest sundress you can find, only to throw on even shorter shorts and a tank top at night, all in the name of staying cool. That’s right guys, summer is officially in the rearview mirror. Don’t fret just yet, with the changing of seasons comes one amazing shopping opportunity! There’s always a silver lining. There are a few hot fall trends on the radar that you simply must incorporate into your wardrobe.
This is a pretty big, yet simple trend for fall, and one I am all for. I’m an advocate for jeans when the cooler months roll around. I have to talk myself into wearing something different every day, so adding something as simple as another color option that can completely change up your look makes me quite happy. You’ll see these in everything from wide legs, to low-rise distressed skinnies, to high wasted cropped jeans. And the great part? They go with pretty much everything. Add some black jeans to your wardrobe this fall if you haven’t already!
This is a fun one to play with! There are so many options because this trend literally ripples through the entire spectrum from complete ensembles to minimal accessories. Mini skirts, knee high boots, mod prints, they’re all in this year. Try out some of your favorite 60’s accessories and you’re sure to look like the trendy mom from Now & Then, and who didn’t love her style?
This is basically a trend for everyone who wants to look like they’re having a holiday at the most chic ski resort in Aspen, and to be honest I love it! Far Isle prints, chunky oversized knits, big warm hats! There’s so much to love and be comfortable in while still looking fabulously chic!
When I was in college I stopped wearing turtlenecks all together. I loved this style of top, I’m perpetually cold so staying warm was always a priority of mine. However, I had a group of guy friends who always made fun of me whenever I wore them. Needless to say, I packed away every turtle neck I owned and never looked back. Until now! They’re back, they’re on trend, they’re in style, and I will wear mine proudly! Everything from tight necks to extreme slouchy necks can be found in stores so stock up and stay warm!
Sneakers have become one of the most chic items a woman can have in her closet. Not long ago the idea of wearing sneakers with a dress was something every fashionista would scoff at, but today? Wear your sneakers with everything you own! I recently spent a few days in New York and wore sneakers with a skirt and a shirt-dress and received so many compliments! I was really just trying to stay comfortable while site seeing, but looking chic was a nice plus! (visit my blog for styling ideas). Sneakers are quickly becoming the new flat. Grab a pair of basic Converse, or a pair of New Balance sneakers for J Crew that are sure to make a statement! Either way, don’t be afraid to stand out in sneakers this fall.
Fur is a trend every fall and winter, so if you don’t own something fur, or faux fur if you prefer, you should. Seriously, stop reading this, get in your car, head to the mall and buy yourself some fur. It’s not just a trend this year, you will see it again so it’s definitely something you will want to invest in. Fur vests are one of the most versatile pieces in a closet; you can wear them with flannels, jeans and flats, over a smock dress, with a jumpsuit, really anything. Have I made up your mind yet?
Menswear always tends to have its moment in the sun every season. For fall you can expect to see a lot of menswear inspired footwear. Opt for something that stands out more than a typical pair of loafers or oxfords by buying a pair with metallic embellishments, laser cutouts, or even prints. You want to find something that can standout and not just blend in with your outfit.
The coming of a new season is an exciting time of year, every year! It’s time to shop and update your wardrobe! Which fall trends are you most excited to try this time around?
