Shopping Obsession: Budderflie BoutiqueIt’s no secret that we love shopping, some of us might even consider ourselves professional shoppers. Whether it’s at the mall, the block of the chicest boutiques in town, or online it doesn’t matter because the thrill is still the same. There is also nothing like the rush you get when you score an amazing deal! Let’s face it, shopping can be addicting.

Much to our shopaholic’s delight there has been a surge of boutiques popping up on social media networks. We’re not just talking about liking a brand on Facebook or following a brand on Instagram… no, we’re talking actual shoppability pages. Facebook/Instagram boutiques, if you will.

How it works is you like them on their social media channels, they post their inventory and you can shop it by sending them a message or email telling them you want to purchase the item along with your sizing details if needed. The shop owner then sends you an invoice via a website such as PayPal, you pay it, and once payment is received the shop owner packs it up and drops it off at the post office and on its way it goes to your door step. Pretty easy, right?

Once we got wind of this new trend we started doing our own research and that’s when we came across Budderflie Boutique. Our hearts nearly skipped a beat! Budderflie Boutique is a small (but impressively growing) online boutique ran by Erin Reiter. The shop keeps a small inventory of items, so it kind of gives off that intimate personal shopping vibe – who doesn’t love that?! To make it even better the inventory is completely on-trend… but wait it gets better… not only are the items chic, but they’re also extremely affordable! We got the chance to sit down with Reiter recently to talk about Budderflie Boutique and this is what she had to say.

Erin Reiter: What is Budderflie Boutique and how long has it been open? 
Mod City Magazine: Budderflie Boutique is a small online clothing, jewelry and accessory boutique. We also offer delivery and pickup within our wonderful community. Our official online launch date was June 10th 2013. A significant date tailored to my late mother’s birthday.

How did you come up with the name, Budderflie Boutique? 
Budderflie Boutique’s name came to while in the shower! I knew I wanted to incorporate “Boutique” in the headline. After three days it hit me. My mother was a butterfly lover and since “Budderflie” isn’t the norm when it comes to spelling (of course), it stood out more and I found it to be the perfect name. I rinsed my hair, produced my name idea to my husband, he shrugged his shoulders and here we are. Budderflie Boutique.

How would you describe the type of person who shops your boutique? 
My intended audience was for the modern woman. That lady who is looking for trendy, affordable quality clothing and accessories. While we mainly carry junior and petite sizes in clothing we offer a wide variety (and priced) jewelry, scarves and accessories. From highend baubles to that trendy chevron scarf we like to offer something for every woman and pre-teen alike.

Tell me a little about yourself… 
I grew up in Buffalo, New York, home of the amazing amount of snow and the birth of the chicken wings! After my husband served 8 years active duty in the Air Force we settled in Monroe, Ohio. Many moons (and cats) later our son was born and I had decided to become a stay at home mom. We love the laid back southern feel of Ohio, but the summers are still something to get used to-haha! We’ll always be New Yorkers at heart. I’d like to credit my sense of humor to my brash family and my love of wine to motherhood.

Why did you want to start your own online boutique? 
Starting my own boutique never occurred to me till as of recent. Once we had our son I had decided to stay home and open my own daycare. While that was lucrative and great at the time, I always have a constant eye on fashion. I buy and sell on eBay constantly and eventually opened my own eBay store. Once I closed my daycare I was able to focus more on what I wanted out of my eBay selling. I still wanted to work from home so I could be there 100 percent for my son and I wanted to do it on my own accord.
One day, while searching around on Facebook, I found an online boutique and purchased a skirt right from the Facebook page. Once I received the skirt and realized how easy it was to buy on Facebook I had a light bulb moment. I’m already selling items online, I like these boutique items I had just purchased and I’m sure other woman would too. That was in April of 2013. June 10, 2013 I was ready to launch my own online store.

You said you hand pick what items you sell in your boutique, how do you decide what to sell and what not to sell? 

The hardest part of my job is deciding what and what not to sell. It is also the most fun. I use my girlfriends for feedback too or spend countless hours researching trends from all over. What would I like this season? Do you girls like this skirt? I can’t believe I scored this rare item! Im always looking for items I know I would love as would the ladies in my community or all over the country. I love the fact that I control my inventory. What you see is what I have picked out and spent time mulling over. Sometimes it’s a miss and I know better what to look for that will be a hit. While I try to stay on top of trends I also love having those unique and rare pieces.

What are your goals and hopes for Budderflie Boutique? 

As time goes on and the boutique continues to grow, my goal is to be a nationally recognized online boutique. I want ladies all over to be able to purchase great style at affordable prices as well as give the ladies in my community a fresh take on fashion. I’d love to see photos posted from all over with those enjoying items from Budderflie Boutique!

Giving back is large for me also. I would like to continue to take part in fundraisers and local community shows, helping my community to grow and network.

We currently offer easy shopping through our Facebook page via an online store. We offer free shipping to all US states too!

What can we expect to see next from Budderflie Boutique?  

As time goes on and we grow, Budderflie Boutique will break away from Facebook to be a standalone shopping website. This is in the works so we advise everyone to stay tuned as exciting things are coming our way!

Is there anything you would like our readers to know? 
I started Budderflie Boutique as a way of offering new items to my community and to be there for my family. Without family and our community I wouldn’t be where I am today. All I want is to share the shopping experience with others and maybe make their lives a bit more fashionable and fun. When someone asks, “Where did you get that skirt?” I want them to proudly say, “Budderflie Boutique!”
